Fred & Carly okoth

Fred and Carly met in Kenya in 2015 when Carly was on a three month missions trip. They volunteered every day together and became close friends, and by April 2015, they started a courtship. Several miles and months later, Fred moved to Pennsylvania, USA and they were married in June of 2016. Since they started dating, Fred and Carly have dreamed and prayed about starting a ministry to help the people of Kenya. They enjoy serving locally in Pennsylvania, hiking, cooking, and traveling. They hail from Tunkhannock, PA and their home church is Grace Fellowship.

Fred went to Amiref Training Center for a counseling certificate in Kenya in 2010. In 2011-12 he worked in Amiref Kibera Health Center working as a community health worker. He was also the project manager for Hope for Kibera. In 2013 he worked with Empower a Child as volunteer coordinator where he met Carly later on. Fred’s favorite food is ugali and fish. Fred’s biggest prayer for Angaza is to help young people know Christ and use their God given gifts to transform and empower their communities.

Carly went to Pennsylvania College of Technology after graduating high school in 2013. In the summer of 2013 she went to Peru on a short term missions trip. In 2014, she was offered a full-time position at a fine dining restaurant in Dallas, PA as a chef. From there, she went on to cooking in five star senior living homes, eventually becoming the executive chef at a new high end senior center. However in 2015, she felt called to missions in Kenya and decided to take leave and go for three months, where she met Fred, and a deep-rooted love for the country of Kenya. Now, Carly works at an online school as a counselor while earning her bachelors degree in Education. Her favorite food is spaghetti and meatballs. Her biggest prayer for Angaza is to see sponsored children earn a solid education so they can break the circle of poverty, and have a heart for serving God.
